Who exactly are "the people and institutions responsible for destroying our country and our way of life" and what do you think is going to happen to them? The problem is that 'they' are elusive and protected and well-armed, and if things turn to revolution, it will mean millions of dead citizens. The better option is for those of us who are awake to extract ourselves from the system and start a new one.
Thanks for raising this issue. I agree that many of the individuals responsible for our condition are elusive, but the institutions they control aren’t. They’re in our face, passing laws that strip us of liberties, spewing lies and propaganda masquerading as truth, and issuing debt-based currency that’s impoverishing us.
I agree that a revolution in the streets isn’t the answer. The revolution needs to be in our minds instead. And you are 100% right: rejecting the System will be the key to this revolution, especially when the central bank digital currency is rolled out and brings elites closer to the global control they seek.
Yes, the better option is to be awake and aware so we can rebuild the System in a way that serves us. But we can’t do that until we overcome the incessant, manufactured division. We ALL need to come together and understand what’s really happening to us and why. Until that happens, being awake and aware won’t mean much.
I agree. I keep trying to tell people that Trump and Biden aren't really that different. Trump was president when the shutdown and Covid relief started. The problem is big government and it goes WAY back. Hopefully you are right that people will wake up when it starts affecting them, like these Hollywood strikers.
Good job Monica, it is a bit frightening to see the monstrous money system of capitalism devouring its goose as well as the capacity for nature to produce another. The horror of the mechanistic view of the universe is revealed. Definitely time for an apocalyptic movement to clean house and put things right. Apocalyptic meaning, the lifting of the veil on the crimes of the ruling elite, ending their world and starting anew with a system designed to serve the many.
I love this! Very few people realize that the apocalypse is nothing to fear, but something to embrace. It is the lifting of the veil that has deceived humanity. I truly believe this is what we are seeing now, but it is a painful process. But we can’t begin a new world until we understand how poorly the old one — and the people who control it — have served us. The biggest challenge is getting people to open their eyes and see the deceit. Many people are still very naive, and others are hard-pressed to admit they’ve been fooled.
Yes, all that and indeed, it is much easier to fool someone than it is to convince them they've been fooled.
It seems like some of society are naïve, others know they are being lied to but are not sure what to believe, and others seem to have Stockholm Syndrome and embrace the propaganda in a totalitarian mass formation. I do want to read your book.
Most of us have been schooled to establish habits of obedience and conformity, we've been diagnosed, classified and directed into our proper roles in society and the reproductive sweepstakes. Now, having an exponential finance system when our materials economy is linear, we are hitting the planetary limits. Now reality will make itself clear and have its seat at the table, soon I hope.
I’ve been thinking about how the elite class actively separates the working classes and pits them against each other and has done so for centuries. Happened in mid to late 1600s Virginia when white and black indentured servants were in the same boat. They tried rising up together against the landed class. Blacks were made permanently enslaved by law partly as a way of dividing them from the white indentured classes thus preventing them from working together against the elites.
Excellent point, Laura. Many Americans aren’t aware of this history. Poor people of color have so much more in common with poor white people than they realize, and the media actively perpetuates this misperception.
Everyone needs to get out of their foxholes and get to know their neighbors again, help each other out when you can and strap in for the ride. I do believe Biden is uniting Americans, just not in the way he meant. There will be an unhinged propaganda and financial war to try and stop us from uniting, but I have hope for the future.
The waiting-it-out strategy that you refer to is the same thing Russia is doing to US in the Ukraine proxy war. Hard to say how to stay in the game when one side is close to losing all its money/assets during the standoff (or war).
Damn! Macro analysis tied into the micro then analysis into the second and third order effects. Another great piece of work Monica. Glad you teased out the AI bit, I believe that's going to be bigger than anyone can realize at the moment. The circle of "have's" is shrinking, and the danger to all (particularly the regular folks) is nebulous. Society and this Republic are changing, and the that's unstoppable and irreversible.
I love your optimism; it's refreshing to see...I hope it does not regress into where my fears lie.
As an actor and one of those affected by this strike (no longer working at The Tonight Show), I'm fully aware of what these writers and SAG actors are fighting for. But I also see a streaming landscape that is growing in number of channels but not in revenue, save a few like Netflix. So while I support my fellow striking artists, I also want these studios to get their act together and figure out a new business model. If they don't make money, none of us will. The music industry had its own fits and starts when mp3s and online music threatened CD sales. Musicians suffered too with decreasing residuals--remember when Taylor Swift wouldn't go on Spotify because of low payout rates? But they found a path forward and Swifties eventually got their fix on Spotify. Hopefully, the Hollywood system will find its own path forward...and quickly.
Patrick, I think we’re reaching a point where it will become increasingly difficult for media companies to create a business model that serves both them and talent. And I don’t think this problem is limited to the entertainment industry.
The elephant in the room -- which was pint-sized when Napster made its debut and is Godzilla-sized now -- is that the U.S. economy (like all debt-based economies) is a Ponzi scheme. We are now living in the final stages of the Ponzi. There is literally nothing left to sustain it.
The remaining players are madly scrambling for what’s left. The problems Hollywood is facing today will only intensify as inflationary pressures mount, which means that whatever model the industry crafts today will be obsolete within a few years.
The only path forward at this point is a systemic reboot. The global elite are already planning this. They know the Ponzi has reached its natural conclusion. But the “reset” they have in mind isn’t one that will serve the 99.99%; it will institutionalize poverty for the masses and ensure that strikes in any industry become meaningless in the future.
The challenge we face is awakening people to the impending collapse of the Ponzi scheme before the “reset” is upon us. We need a united front to demand that any systemic changes serve us and not be used to further disempower us.

Hence the fifty-first state of the U.S.
Good writing
Thanks, doc!

I love your writing. Your book “The Illusion of Division” just arrived in the mail from Amazon.
Thank you so much for that feedback, Laura! Please let me know your thoughts when you finish. Would also appreciate a review on Amazon! 🙏

Thanks, Jomacre! Appreciate the feedback. Optimism is critical in these times. Once we lose hope, we lose everything else.

I can't like this enough. Thank you for speaking up for the 99%.
Gilga, this is the hill I’M willing to die on. Speaking up is what I came here to do 👊
